Word counts

purple_penI'm working on something with a 10k minimum word count, which has proved to be more of a struggle than anticipated since about 5k.
What's weird is, when I was at 7k, the gap to 10 seemed impossible. Even at 7.5. But now I just hit 8k, and suddenly 10 seems only words away, not far at all. Is it psychological? Something about even numbers (though personally, I've always thought even number ages sounded younger than odd ones - a little depressing, since I'm turning 29 in three weeks!)
Whatever it is, I feel like I'm on a roll, and want to just keep going. Sadly, it's twenty to eleven at night, and I have to get up for work tomorrow. But maybe just twenty more minutes...
